For Memen in Encantadia Chronicles: Sang'gre visit: Memen (2025)
Memen is a fictional character from the Philippine telefantasya Etheria, which is a prequel/sequel to the highly-rated Encantadia. Memen is played by Filipino actor Tonton Gutierrez.
Profile[]
Memen was a member of the Etherian royalty, but was only half-Etherian, one of his parents being a Diwata. He was brother to Barkus, leader of Hera Sensa, and the guardian of the tree of life, Evades. He was the husband of Queen Avria of Etheria with whom he had a daughter named Mine-a unknown to him was only adopted by Avria by conspiring with Barkus. Since he isn't purely an Etherian, he does not have a lot of abilities like his brothers so he ended up becoming a soldier for Hera Sensa until Avria, the queen of Etheria chose him to be her husband.

Bandok's story
In Bandok's story, Memen and Ornia woke up when Animus appeared to them.
Original Timeline
Memen was the one who thought of Cassiopea's name. He and Ornia were killed by Animus while they were asleep.
Sang'gres' Intervention
Memen first met Ornia when he led an army to capture the four diwatas that killed Etherian soldiers. Memen fell into a pit and was saved by Ornia. He let the Sang'gres and Ornia go instead of fulfilling his mission to capture them. He lied to Avria that he killed them. He rescues Ornia when she was captured by the Etherians. Amihan suggested the name Cassiopea to Memen and Ornia. Because of the news that the two diwatas Hera Mine-a is searching for were at Adjantao, the soldiers found Memen and Ornia there instead. Memen was captured. Avria gave him a chance to live if he disowns Ornia and their child but Memen chose not to. He is killed by Avria infront of Mine-a and other Etherians. His death was made early hence, he never met Cassiopea when she was grown up.
Story[]
Memen did not love his wife; he only felt true love when he met Ornia, a Diwata - a race deemed lowly by most Etherians. He ran off with her, an act which caused great shame to Avria. In fact, Avria became so enraged that she had her husband and his lover hunted down. The queen went as far as to order the slaughter of the Diwatas in a bid to flush Memen and Ornia out of hiding.
Memen sired a daughter with Ornia whom they named Cassiopea. This child was destined to be a savior of the Diwata race and would later become the founder and first queen of the kingdom of Lireo.
Memen and Ornia were killed by his nephew, Animus, but when the Sang'gres changed the events Memen is instead killed by Avria.

- Teleportation - this is a common ability among the royal Herans of Etheria.
Trivia[]
- In the first book, Memen (tagged as Cassiopea's father) also appeared in a flashback in which Ybrahim forced Bandok to narrate about the truth of Kabilan. Memen's outfit in the flashback from the first book is much different from the second book and he is portrayed by a different actor before Tonton Gutierrez.
- In the 2025 series, Memen became the king of old Etheria unlike the original series, and he has two children named Cassiopeia and Mitena.
